Bridge to Promise (BTP) is a diverse network of community leaders working with youth through later adulthood populations from marginalized populations to increase opportunity acquisition through a comprehensive support system of services to promote self-actualization.
Together, we aim to provide an arena for self and corporate affirmation to promote growth mindset in three developmental foci: personal, financial, and spiritual development in service of the continuity of a vibrant, socially and community minded citizenry.
Bridge to Promise recognizes that its targeted audience is youth through later
adulthood (18-35 years old). BTP seeks to realize it core values by providing a network
of services that demonstrates and encourages the incorporation of its core values into
the work of all stakeholders.
While emphasizing the facets of personal, financial, and spiritual development,
BTP aims to highlight the interdependence of humanity through percept and
example a principled servant leadership motif.
To promote a discipline of introspection that results in self-reflection and self-improvement.
To provide guidance in the acquisition of competencies that are needed for personal success.
To provide a venue to build connection, caring/compassion, and community.
To provide a safe space to share, journey, grow, and express the fulfillment of personal talents
To offer support in the exploration of matters of the mind and searching of the soul.
As the mission of BTP is to promote personal, financial, and spiritual development, it aims to focus on these attributes through three lenses: (1) habits of mind, (2) social capital,
and (3) cultural responsiveness.
HABITS OF MIND -
provides building blocks for systematic thinking, ego, an approach to disciplined choice making. Incorporated in the BTP workshop, seminar, and conference framework will be the following habits of mind:
Purposeful communication is characterized construction of meaning through a wide range of communicative messaging aimed about fostering the development and continuity of purposeful expression
Problem solving is an iterative process of approaching problems via identification, explanation, envisioning, and making decisions based upon the confluence of these processes.
Integrative perspective is a process that highlight the interconnectivity of all humanity. It’s the realization that individual decisions impact not only oneself but the community and environment in which we coexist.
Self-regulated learning involves to desire to learn and is best done in a active and participatory environment. This mode of thinking is a self-monitored process that has not limit other than the sky. It invites metacognition and sets the groundwork for creative cognition
SOCIAL CAPITAL –
is one of the major building blocks of success. It involves the ability to function through interpersonal relationships, institutions, and other social assets of a society or groups that be used to increase goal realization; ultimately success as define by the individual.
CULTURAL RESPONSIVENESS –
is the unique ability to learn from and relate respectfully with people within or culture as well as others cultures without losing our sense of self. With diversity at its core, cultural responsiveness provides opportunity to become a empathic and authentic leader in today increasing global world.
